…About 85 years ago, my great grandfather, Pasquale Bottuello drove a pipe into the side of Prospect Park hill, (on the east side near the site of the former Manning Paper Co.), and drew spring water from it until he died in 1975. Back then there were no plastic jugs and he would carry four glass gallon bottles back and forth every day until he was well into his 80’s. I’ve often wondered if that spring was a part of the same underground stream (as the Troy Spring). My great aunt Carm, his daughter, will be turning 101 next month. She lives in Troy Towers, and still drives to Price Chopper once a week. I’m sure that spring has something to do with her longevity.
